We are ridiculously excited for this weekend and even more excited that all of you are coming to camp with us. Good friends, fresh air, great food, campfires, some light competition, and a weekend that feels easy and fun.
We’d love for everyone to arrive sometime between 9:00 and 11:00 AM if possible, though we completely understand there’s a drive involved. Important GPS Note: Please enter Chestnut Lake Camp into your GPS — not Chestnut Lake Campground… unless you’re looking to add an unexpected 90-minute detour to your weekend. You can find Directions to Camp (and instructions) here. When you arrive, get settled into your cabins, grab your swag bags, decompress a little, and ease into camp mode.
When you arrive at camp, drive through the Main Gate (there’s a “Chestnut Lake Camp” sign at the front). After a short time driving down that driveway, you will see Aaron and Ann’s house on the right (across from the Gymnastics Arena on your left). You can pull into the large driveway/parking area (which doubles as a pickleball court) next to the house to be welcomed. When you’re ready to head to your bunks, you can pull out of our driveway, turn right, and then turn right almost immediately to arrive in a few hundred feet at Staff Houses A/B. Please do not pull onto the grass on the right (in front of the bunks). You can park your cars temporarily on the road in front of the cabins or across the road (there may be some parking spaces near the mulch/woodchip pile), or you can use the nearby Guest Parking lot.
We’ll be providing accommodations for everyone on-site at camp.
Both “bunks” (that’s the term we use) are basically a stone’s throw from our house, which should make everything super easy and convenient all weekend long. We’ve provided towels, linens, and shampoo/bath gel. You are welcome to bring any other personal items you prefer to use. The bunks have split HVAC systems, and we have already set the thermostat to Auto at 72-74 degrees to take the chill off inside. You can use the remote control in the room to make adjustments during your stay. There’s power everywhere and places to charge devices. Wi-Fi covers most of camp (please use CLC Guest and this password: CharlesBarkley34!), and local service generally works best with AT&T and Verizon. Cell signals aren’t perfect out here, but the Wi-Fi should help.
We’ll be providing plenty of Campout swag throughout the weekend. Some items will already be waiting for you when you arrive, and we’ll also spend a little time shopping at the Gear Shed for additional camp necessities you suddenly realize you can’t live without.
We’ll be providing you with maps of the camp property when you arrive, but you can feel free to click here at any time to access the PDF version.
Arrive, unpack, settle in, have a little snack, wander a little, and finally enjoy being here. If time permits, we may do our Chestnut Lake Camp tour now, prior to lunch.
We’ve decided to skip the visit to Narrowsburg, NY, to maximize our relaxing time together at camp. Therefore, once everyone is ready, we’ll enjoy a tour of Chestnut Lake Camp led by Ann and Aaron followed by a short tour next door at Trail’s End Camp (TEC). This will be a chance to explore camp, hang out, jump into things if the mood strikes, and fully lean into camp life for the afternoon. Along the way, we will stop to join members of the CLC and TEC Pre-Camp Teams for lunch at the TEC Dining Hall. We’re not sure what will be served, but we know everyone will be looking forward to the chance for some camp food! After our lunch and tours, we will have the opportunity to continue exploring, playing some camp games, or trying to sneak away behind some buildings to make out.
Our official Campout Pickleball Tournament begins around 3:00 PM and should last no more than two hours. Everyone plays. You can visit the Campout Pickleball website to check out the tournament schedule, player bios, and rules.
After pickleball, there’ll be time to shower, relax, recharge, play Gaga, sit around, or do absolutely nothing productive. We’ll also have afternoon snacks from Beach Lake Bakery.
We’ll gather back at Aaron and Ann’s house for drinks and pre-dinner refreshments before heading out for dinner. Don’t worry: we have coordinated all drink options (including alcohol and appropriate glassware selection) with Eddie.
Dinner will be at one of our favorite local restaurants, Native, in Honesdale, PA. View the menu by clicking here.
After dinner, we’ll head back to camp for a campfire at Chestnut Commons, complete with s’mores, music, stories, and hopefully everyone still awake enough to enjoy it. Then camp will slowly wind down whenever camp naturally winds down.
Wake up whenever your body, cabin neighbors, or internal camp clock decides. Bagels, coffee, and breakfast nosh (including the best from Camp Umpy’s in Honesdale, PA) will be available in the morning. No rush. No real schedule. No pressure to leave early. Just relaxing, hanging out, and enjoying camp a little longer before heading home.
We can’t wait to have you here. — Ann & Aaron
